Mid-October Check-In w/ Dr. Venturella Post-Hurricanes Check-in with Dr. Venturella Show Transcript hello CCC community in the wake of another historic hurricane I want to speak for a few moments about the far-reaching effects throughout the school community. many of our families suffered losses of power, water, some lost their entire home .so our community is a community that's suffering in some ways, some more than others. so we pray first for the loss of life and sadly we had a very serious loss of life in that we lost one of our best and brightest and kindest and smartest students in Evan Schefano, freshman, and his mother Cheryl, a devoted member of the Sacred Heart Community and someone who devoted her life to work at Sacred Heart School. so we grapple with the passing of Evan and we pray for his family that they can endure this loss somehow and go on and we are left to trust in God's plan and remember that we are stronger because we are part of this special community of CCC than we would ever be if we stood alone. CCC has proven over and over that it is a resilient community, a living example of God's grace at work. we've seen it over and over compassion, charity, flexibility, patience, fortitude. the words of St Julie, spiritual mother of the sisters of Notre Dame who we are affiliated with and who once administered this school actually for over 30 something years and Julie often said "do not be anxious go straight on forgetful of self and letting the spirit of God act instead of your own." so the only way through this turmoil and the sorrow is to move forward optimism with hope and to do it together so pray for each other communicate with each other Express how you truly feel without because we are all feeling hurt loss sorrow confusion but always looking to the words of the Gospel to find Hope: hope in Jesus, hope in God, hope in the future. let us pray for this school that it continues to be a refuge, a place where our students can come to regain normalcy, to feel stability, to feel cared for and loved and safe. this should be the place where they find compassion, joy, faith, love, and deep friendship. and once again our beloved St Julie would often say "I wish you fresh courage to make progress day by day putting all your confidence in the Lord. let us accomplish everything everything under the eyes of God in the pure simplicity of faith." thank you you, God bless you, and St Julie Billiart, pray for us.
