My freshman year coming into CCC I was coming from a school out in Tampa, so I didn't really know anybody here. But right when I got here I instantly felt a sense of community and I just feel very comfortable here. >>We made the right decision, you know, being here at CCC. The faculty and staff is amazing and I feel like that's really also what makes this school so successful, it's because they want to be here, they enjoy the kids. And as a mom, you know my child is here–probably 75% of her time is here during the week–because they're here for school, they're here for sporting events, they're here for training, you know so this is my kid's home away from home. >>I think what makes our staff special and probably the number one thing that I have seen in this school like no other, is the care that the faculty has for the students, and in the reverse the respect that the students have for the faculty. Very often when I speak to them in Senior year, they'll say to me 'the number one thing I loved about this school is that the teachers were there for me, they cared, and I really learned in that class.' >>Oh my gosh, the feedback from Avery about CCC, it's unparalleled to even the other boys. The minute he got home on the first day of school, he said 'Mom I'm so happy, this is the best school. The teachers really care,' is what he said and of course then I started to cry. And we were just thrilled...we were just thrilled that he was happy and he's been happy ever since. I ask him all the time, 'how's school? how's it going?' and he tells me all the time, 'this was the best decision I ever made.' >>I transferred here after freshman year. It was very welcoming and I came in not knowing the very many people, but the teachers were very welcoming and the students were very welcoming. >>The student body is the heart of the school, no doubt about it, but let me be clear: the thing that keeps it beating is the people in the building that are charged with the task of really making it happen. When I look at our faculty–and like I said I've been here since 1999–when I look around this building, what I see is tremendous retention. People have made a life, a career, and a vocation at Clearwater Central Catholic High School. And when you've got dedicated professionals that are willing to day-in and day-out put the time and effort into it to do what they need to do to be successful in lighting these fires in our student body... we have it. >>The most rewarding thing about being a teacher here at CCC is the relationships that we're able to develop with students. I find that CCC is just the right size; we're not too small to where you get a little tired of being together and we're not too big to where students don't know their teachers and vice-versa. >>Since it's such a small school, you do get to know everyone and I think that's a good thing, because I'll talk to my friends from other schools and they don't know everyone in their class and I think it's great to know everyone in your class cuz I feel like you can just make more memories that way and you know just build a community off of that. >>To me what it means to be a Marauder is to be a part of a community that cares, a community that's willing to look out for you. And then as you move on as a Marauder, you notice that you look out for other Marauders as well. >>My favorite part about being a Marauder is just being part of that student body spirit. I mean a good example of that is our football games. We have a great team and great leaders and overall being with that spirit, you just get happy and excited and you leave the night being proud of the school you're in.  >>The thing I like most about CCC is probably the sports programs and the atmosphere around sports games, such as the student section. They support a lot, they come out a lot. I think they're known as the Red Sea. >>I teach history here at the school. I also coach the football and track teams, and I'm going to be a parent of an incoming freshman. I just think that there's no better place for my daughter to be for the next four years from a standpoint of the academics–you know through the IB program, and the honors programs, and even the AP programs and kind of what we're looking for her future CCC offers all of that. And along the way, with those strong academics, there's so many clubs and teams and other things here for her to get involved in to make sure she's a really well-rounded person when she heads off to college. So I think it's again that that family atmosphere, the care that I see the faculty giving these students every day and just how many different programs and how many different ways we have here at CCC to really improve yourself and prepare for success in college and beyond. >>So my counselor sat down with me–several times–and we discussed like the classes I should take for upcoming school years and why I should take them based on the career path I want to take. >>As a career path, I definitely want to go into law, and CCC is definitely helping me prepare because of its very rigorous courses, like I'm going to be taking IB Lit this year which I know is really good for a college application considering like the law field. And for college I think I'd want to go to FSU and CCC obviously is a college preparatory school so they help you so much when it comes to thinking about what college you want to go to, creating that resume, stacking your extracurriculars, what courses to take. >>I think most importantly what we do here is we focus on the whole child; we focus on educating the whole person that's in front of us, not just one dimension: mind body and spirit. And we have a mission statement and we have our core values that are aligned to that very specific task of making sure that we are helping our student body get prepared for the next stage of their life, and we realize that sometimes that's just not content–that is skills. And when we look at the curriculum that we put together, our alignment with IB philosophy in the IB learner profile, there is a beautiful union in that, that makes our graduate profile very successful. >>What I would tell a parent if I was sitting with them and they asked me why their child should come to CCC: come into the school. Ask the kids. Ask the parents. Ask the teachers. Read all the literature. Educate yourself as to the right questions that should be asked, and I am sure we will come up high on your list.
